Tolerations

At a recent workshop that was part of my membership in Ali Brown's Millionaire Protege Club (see http://www.mcssl.com/app/aftrack.asp?afid=921513 for more information), Ali asked us "what are you tolerating?"  She asked us to think about what in our lives needed fixing or wasn't quite up to what we wanted, but we'd learned to live with it.  It could be as simple as a button still needing to be replaced on a pair of pants, or as complicated as a relationship that wasn't supporting who we wanted to become.

I thought about this yesterday, my first day back at the gym in some time.  I had been "tolerating" a few extra pounds because I was just "too busy" to maintain an exercise routine.  But that toleration cost me a whole lot of wardrobe that I couldn't wear.  It took me longer than it should have to get dressed in the morning, since what I had planned to wear didn't fit or didn't look good.  It cost me money that I spent on new clothing that would cover up the extra weight.  And it cost me feeling good about myself, since I started my day with frustration over my experience getting dressed.

If we look at tolerations in the context of what they cost us, they don't seem quite as benign as we think they are.  What are you tolerating, and what is it costing you?  Tolerations can snowball into big roadblocks to achieving our dreams.  Too many tolerations chip away at us, gradually eroding our sense of well being and happiness, and our confidence in our ability to achieve our dreams.

Make a list of all the things in your life that aren't quite what you'd like them to be.  Start with the small stuff to give you a feeling of accomplishment.  Sew on the button, wash the windows so you can see the view -- do whatever it takes to create an environment that supports who you are and who you want to be.  The cost of tolerations is just too great to be tolerated!!

Come join me in the Millionaire Protege Club!  There are just a couple of spots open, and the deadline for application is this Friday, June 19.  See http://www.mcssl.com/app/aftrack.asp?afid=921513 for details!

Are You Living Your Life Purpose?

Do you believe you have a reason for being here on this planet, at this very time in history?  Do you know why you're here and what you're meant to contribute?

Most of us start to ask these questions when we hit a "certain age" or when something happens in our lives that changes everything.  It's usually when our lives begin unraveling, precipitated by something like the untimely death of a loved one, the loss of a job, or the discovery of an illness.  Rarely do people who win millions in the lottery come to this questioning, but sometimes people who've made a lot of money but still aren't feeling fulfilled do.

I've been asking myself this question for years, starting with the unraveling of my own life.  And it took me a long time to find the answers, having gone down a lot of dead ends and wandering around in mazes that kept me going around in circles.  And then I found it.  Or rather her.  And now I know, without a doubt, what I'm here to be doing, who I'm supposed to be helping and why.

The answer to your life purpose can be found in your hands.  That's right, your hands, or more precisely, your fingerprints.  Fingerprints are formed in the womb and do not change over our lifetime.  How ingenious!  A map to our life purpose comes with us into this world.  All we need is to know how to read the map, and we'll never be lost again.  Sounds simple, right?  But how do we decipher these mysterious markings that can tell us so much about who we are and what direction we should go?

Enter Baeth Davis, the Hand Analyst.  If you're skeptical, believe me I was too!  But after having my hands read by Baeth, and getting a Life Purpose Spiritual Blueprint for my business, I have no more doubt.  Baeth's purpose is to be a guide for us, to tell us what the map says and help us stop wandering aimlessly.

Find out more about Baeth here, and start learning about your life purpose: http://www.1shoppingcart.com/app/?Clk=2875264.

What would you do if you knew you could not fail?  If you're living your purpose, there is no competition. Stop wandering, and start following your own unique map for your own unique life!

http://www.1shoppingcart.com/app/?Clk=2875264

Once you know your purpose, I can help you create a business that reflects who you are, what you love, and what you're meant to be doing.  You'll learn how to evaluate opportunities and create the life you've always imagined.  See www.inspiration4success.com for details or email me at kate@inspiration4success.com to make an appointment.  Start living your dream today!

Are You Making Excuses?

Last night I was flipping around on the TV when I came across Dr. Wayne Dyer on the shopping channel (QVC, I think).  I've always appreciated Dr. Dyer's teachings, so I stopped to listen to what he had to say.  He has a new book out called Excuses Begone!: How to Change Lifelong, Self-Defeating Thinking Habits, which was the subject of the discussion.

If you listen to yourself carefully, you'll recognize what he means.  We don't necessarily see them as "excuses" -- they're more reasons or rationalizations -- but whatever label we put on them, they keep us from getting what we want.  How many times have you told yourself you're just too tired, or there isn't enough time, or you're not smart enough/slim enough/pretty enough, don't have the right connections, live in the wrong place, etc. etc. ...  the list is endless!  Sometimes that's true.  We might be too tired to go to the gym, and that's okay once in awhile.  But if it becomes a chronic reason for not getting the exercise you need, it's an excuse that's undermining your desire to be healthy, or fit into your clothes, or whatever you profess to want from it.

The only way to overcome this behavior is to start thinking differently.  Take a "no excuses" approach, and, as Nike famously said, just do it!  Focus on the benefits, how good it makes you feel, and believe that you deserve it.  Stand up for your right to schedule your time as you wish if you get pushback from others.  You may have to help them shift their thinking too, but when you're happier and healthier, everybody benefits.

Check out Dr. Dyer's new book , and his other works as well -- no excuses!

Does Money Matter?

If money were no object what would you do?  If you could do or buy anything, go anywhere, without regard to cost, what would you choose?  Conversely, if you had to do something but knew you wouldn't be paid for it, what would you do for the sheer joy of it?  If you didn't have to "earn a living," what would you do with your days, with your life?

Some people have all the money they need.  They are not motivated by accummulating more.  Some are motivated to give it away, some are motivated to use it to start organizations to help others.  Some just indulge their every whim, not caring about the rest of the world.

Others need more money than they have.  Some say they are not motivated by money, so they don't actively try to bring it into their lives.  They may think it's bad or that somehow having money makes them less "real."  Some work hard and earn a little bit of money, but they never really have enough.  Some chase after money as if it were the only thing that matters.

Saying it doesn't matter can be an excuse for not following a dream or not working very hard.  Chasing after it as if it's the only thing rarely brings the happiness we think it will.

Money is simply a tool, an energy by which we exchange value, but people have lots of different reactions to and fears about money.  More than the money itself, what matters is what you believe to be true about it, and your relationship with it.  Our feelings about money are usually reflections of our family and how we were taught, mostly by the example set by the people closest to us.  We carry these beliefs into adulthood, consciously or unconsciously, and they are continually reinforced by events that we see through the lense of our experience.

If you have an adversarial relationship with money -- whether it's feeling bad because you have too much, or feeling bad because you have too little -- take a good look at your belief system.  Chances are you are creating the circumstances to support your beliefs with your behavior, and you don't even know it.

I think it was Henry Ford that said, "Whether you think you can, or think you can't, you're right!"  How you think makes a huge difference in your experience of the world.  If you want to bring more money into your life, try reading the classic book by Napoleon Hill Think and Grow Rich.  Written way back in the days of Andrew Carnegie, it's a fascinating insight into the minds of the men (and in those days they were all men) who made their fortunes in industry.  Hill discovered that there were common traits among the successful, and he shares those for the benefit of those who might like to do the same.

Thinking Differently

It's really true, the rich are different.  But not in the way you might think.

Truly wealthy people don't see the world the way the average person does.  If they did, they'd be average too.  A truly wealthy person sees what could be inside of what is.  But that's not the only difference.  The truly wealthy person takes action on that vision, and doesn't let anyone tell them it can't be done.

How many times have you had an idea that seemed revolutionary to you, but you or someone with whom you shared your idea told you something like, "well,if it was such a good idea, someone would have done it already."  Or, "yeah, that would be great, but that would cost a lot to do, and, well, it probably wouldn't work out in the end anyway."  Or maybe you didn't even get that far.  Lots of ideas "wither on the vine" -- never make it out of your head, much less into action.

Ask a wealthy person how often they've chosen not to act on an idea, and I'll bet they say it wasn't often, and when they didn't, they regretted not taking the chance.  Taking action doesn't always mean seeing the idea to fruition come hell or high water.  You may get a little way down the road and discover that the idea needs tweaking, or that the implementation really isn't worth the time and expense.  But at least you got to that point!

You'll probably also learn that wealthy people fail more often than the rest of us.  Not because they're not good at what they do.  Because they take more chances.  And they learn from their failures, and add it to their "success lessons" so next time they don't make the same mistake.  The "average" person is afraid to fail, so they never even take the chance.

Remember Apple's campaign many years ago "Think Different"?  Grammar issues aside, it's good advice.  If you think just like everyone else, you'll be just like everyone else.  I've heard a lot lately that you are the average of the five people you are around the most.  Look around.  Are your friends and family, the people you are around every day, positive, innovative, living their lives to the fullest, taking chances, having fun, failing forward fast and hurtling toward success?  If not, then chances are you aren't either.

If you want to make a change, you've got to make a change.  Remember that doing the same things over and over and expecting a different result is the definition of "crazy."  Ask yourself, "who would I have to be to achieve what I want in the world?"  Then do it.  Start noticing how people you admire think and act. Take one small step every day toward your dream, and start becoming the person you really want to be.   When you think differently, you'll starting seeing endless possibilities!

Advice for Life

I received from a friend one of those emails that gets forwarded around with an urging to forward to others.  Unlike some, there was no express or implied threat of bad luck or doom and destruction if I failed to pass it on.  But it did have a list of 45 great life lessons that I did consider worth sharing.

I did a bit of research, and this advice was indeed written by Regina Brett of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, who is not 90 as it says in the email I received, but apparently turned 50 in 2006, the year this was written.  I think you'll find it to be timely, as well as timeless.

http://www.cleveland.com/brett/blog/index.ssf/2006/05/regina_bretts_45_life_lessons.html

I tend to keep these types of things somewhere easily accessible for times when things don't seem to be going my way.  It helps me refocus and rebalance, putting it all in perspective.  I hope it does the same for you!

Lifestyle Entrepreneur Opportunity

Many people aspire to be what's called "lifestyle entrepreneurs."  They want the freedom that comes from setting their own hours and being able to work wherever they want, but they aren't attached to any specific way of achieving that.  If that sounds like you, and you're ready to make a radical change in the way you live and earn income, you'll want to explore this opportunity:

It's Simple, but It's Not Easy

I am studying with a couple of mentors to figure out how to bring my work to a larger audience and, of course, get paid well for what I do.  Many of the concepts that I'm learning are very simple.  So simple, in fact, that it's a wonder everyone just doesn't do it.  But that's confusing simple with easy.  It's not easy at all to think like an entrepreneur when you've been an employee your whole life.  It's not easy to send out that press release or write that e-book when you're not 100% confident that anyone wants to hear your message.  And it's doubly difficult if you're still struggling to believe the message yourself.

Talking about entrepreneurship as a way to achieving one's ideal life gets a lot of skepticism.  Almost everyone quotes statistics about how often small businesses fail, how the economy is making it hard even for established businesses, and how if you have a job you should feel lucky and stop all that nonsense about fulfillment, making a difference, and loving your life.  Lots of people are unwilling or unable to hear the message.  It's hard to maintain a belief in the message when it's dismissed as so much fluff.

But I do believe it.  I know people who have done it, and I'm in the process of doing it myself.  I'm learning everything I can and putting together as many resources as I can find so that I can help others to do it too.  But how-to is just the beginning.  It's the mindset that keeps us from attaining our dreams, our inner voice that tells us that's fine for other people, but maybe it's not meant for us.  This is what's known as "conflicting intentions."  We say we want something, but our subconscious thoughts and our actions lead us away from it, not toward it.  It seems simple to take one step daily toward creating work that you love.  But it's not easy.  We have to overcome years, in many cases decades, of conditioning.  It's really a completely different reality, and it's hard to just step into it.  That's why we need coaches.  I can't tell you how many times I've felt like throwing in the towel, felt like the Universe is conspiring against me rather than providing all that I need.  Having someone in your corner who will encourage you, let you talk through your fears and frustrations without judgment, and believe in you and your dream as much as, sometimes more than, you do is critical to breaking through those barriers.

Shifting your perspective on a regular basis can make a huge difference.  It's simple, but it sure isn't easy!
